Question 1.

I can't run for more than 10 seconds.  What if I am the slowest in the class?
This program is designed to accommodate everyone.  We are all at different fitness levels so Kiersten works with the group but will change the workouts to challenge you specifically and keep you moving forward.  

 

Question 2.

I tried the Couch to 5k program and couldn't do it.  How is this program different?

The difference is that you have a coach who has created a program that will slowly increase your running distance to keep you motivated and also injury free.  Kiersten is at your workouts once a week, encouraging you to push yourself.  She is in contact with you during the week and she is always available to speak with you and make you accountable for your progress.

Question 3.

I have a vacation planned so I am going to miss one or two meetings.  How will this affect my program?
Life is crazy and we are busy people.  You may miss a class or two because of a planned vacation or unexpected events like sick kids.  Kiersten will give you a workout to do on your own to keep you on track.  If there is another class available on a different day, you are welcome to come to that class.

Do I really need fancy running sneakers to learn to run?

Here is the deal.  You can wear your sneakers from a chain sports store but Kiersten recommends that you spend the money to get fitted for running sneakers at a running store.  Getting fitted by professionals for the right sneaker will not only make you a better runner but will help to prevent running injuries including shin splints.  At Walk To Run Fitness, you get a discount at Sayville Running Company to buy your first pair of sneakers!!


Question 5.

Where do the trainings take place?

Most workouts are done in the streets of Sayville or at the school track at Bayport Blue Point High School.  Each week, depending on the workouts, Kiersten will let you know where the class will be meeting.
